Poland: Corporate Demand Drives Polish New-car Market in 2006

In 2006, Poland's private demand accounted for 118,096 new-car registrations, down 5.7% year-over-year. On the other hand, 104,474 units were registered by corporate users, a figure representing roughly a 30% jump from the year.

Share of corporate-users registration in overall registration increased during last year by 7.8% to 47%. Companies bought used cars as well as new ones, but the number of them was definitely lower. The number of used cars was 6,170 and it represents nearly 6% of new cars registration.

The highest number of corporate-users registration was in Mazowieckie voivodship - 48,639 new registered cars and 46.56% market share. It was followed by Wielkopolskie voivodship with 11,595 new registered cars and 11.1% share. The lowest number of corporate-users registration was in Swietokrzyskie voivodship - 808 registered cars and 0.8% share.

In the cars' sector rankings, the lower-medium category of cars was the most popular among corporate users with 42 968 registration during last year and 41.13% market share. It was followed by:
2. small-size cars (23,889 units, 22.9%)
3. middle-class cars (22,032, 21%)
4. luxury cars (0.49% market share)

With 14,228 units, Toyota was the top new-car brand according to the 2006 corporate-user registration figures, followed by:
2. Opel (13,831)
3. Skoda (11,931)
4. Ford (11,733)
5. Renault (7,675)

7. Fiat (6,487)
8. Peugeot (5,797)
9. Citroen (4,264)
10. Honda (2,742)

In the model rankings, Opel's Astra led the way with 7,478 corporate-user registrations, followed by:

7. Toyota Yaris (3,321)
8. Fiat Panda (2,861)
9. Toyota Avensis (2,841)
10. Opel Vectra (2,642)
