SEZ unit bags order from GM

Synergies Casting, a unit of Visakhapatnam SEZ, has bagged an order from the General Motors-USA to supply alloy wheels for the high-end Cadillac Escalade platform.

The order for nearly 1.5 lakhs chrome finished 22-inch ally wheels, followed the previous order for the American icon, the Hummer H2, being supplied for the past one year, according to Synergies director Nayan Chirala here on Thursday. The Visakhapatnam-based plant is the first Indian facility to directly supply to Ford-Germany, he recalled.

The orders from GM are worth over 100 million US dollars and will run for over four years and also one of the single larges global OEM orders for an Indian auto components manufacturing unit, said Mr. Nayan Chirala.
