American Axle gets Chery contract

American Axle & Manufacturing Inc. said today that it will make rear drive modules for a 2009 model year Chinese crossover.

Terms of the contract with Chery Automobile Co. weren't disclosed. American Axle released the statement in conjunction with the grand opening of its Changshu Manufacturing Facility in China.

"We are extremely pleased to announce this new business with a new Asian customer," said American Axle Chairman Richard Dauch.
