Volvo China deliveries rise 13% in November

GOTHENBURG, Sweden -- Volvo Car Corp. deliveries rose nearly 13 percent year on year to 9,076 vehicles last month in China, its largest market.
The company said its best-selling models were the locally produced XC60 crossover and the S60L sedan, although Volvo provided no sales data for individual models.
For the first 11 months, Volvo sales in China rose 13 percent to 80,759 vehicles.
To boost profits, Volvo is moving upscale in China's luxury market. In November, Volvo's plant in Daqing began producing the long-wheelbase S90, and next year it will launch production of the top-of-the-line S90 Excellence.
The Chinese-made cars debuted last month at the Guangzhou auto show.
Volvo also operates a second Chinese assembly plant in Chengdu, and it is building a third factory in the city of Luqiao, south of Shanghai. That plant will produce Volvo's 40 series of compact vehicles.
Volvo was purchased by Zhejiang Geely Holding Group Co. in 2010. The Chinese automaker helped bankroll Volvo's $11 billion (75 billion yuan) revival.
