A new light armoured patrol vehicle is being offered on the export market by Poly Technologies of China.

Typical roles for the Infantry Assault Vehicle Type M-98 include assault, reconnaissance and patrolling high-value areas. The Type M-98 is based on a commercial Isuzu TFS55HDJL (4x4) cross-country chassis modified to meet military requirements.

The layout is conventional with the engine at the front, leaving the remainder of the vehicle clear for the four-person crew, weapons, ammunition and equipment. Combat weight is 2,750 kg with the diesel engine giving a maximum road speed of about 130 km/h; maximum range is quoted as 650 km on roads, but this drops to about 200 km cross-country.
