Great Wall Motor registers series of WEYRS marques to go upscale

Shanghai (Gasgoo)- WEY, Great Wall Motor's high-end brand, recently has registered a new marque dubbed "WEYRS 7", aiming to go more upscale. Recently, the WEY brand also registered a variety of all-new marques under the WEYRS, including the WEYRS 5, 2, 8, 4, 3 and 1. Specifically, the WEYRS 7 will be the bespoke version of the WEY VV7, which was showcased at Auto China 2018.

WEY teamed up with CRD to build the WEYRS 7 on the basis of the WEY VV7. Compared with the VV7, the new model features a different shock absorbing system and lamps. In addition, the model adopts carbon fiber materials around its front intake grille and below the front bumper.

As the high-performance version of the VV7, the WEYRS 7 comes with a more powerful engine, but the engine's specified information has not been revealed yet. The only reference resource is the VV7. The existing VV7 offers a 2.0L turbocharged engine with a maximum power output of 234hp and a peak torque of 360Nm, mated with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission.

Yang Yanqing, project director of WEY brand disclosed that WEY will launch a series of high-end products in the future, and will try to explore the products with higher position that similar to that of Mercedes-AMG. It can be surmised that WEY registered a range of WEYRS marques to launch high-performance models similar to that of Mercedes-AMG.
