Shanghai, September 28 (Gasgoo.com) On September 26, Chery Auto launched its A3 sedan. The B00 segment A3 1.6L car has three editions priced at 81,800 yuan ($11,990) and up. The Chinese carmaker said that it will launch more A3 models soon to the market and the automatic A3 model will go on sale in June 2009, said xinhuanet.com today.

The Chery A3 model put on sale Friday has three 1.6L editions for choice (standard at 81,800 yuan, comfort at 85,800 yuan, elite at 89,800 yuan). They are powered by Chery's own 1.6L 16-valve ACTECO engine putting out about 87.5 kW. Maximum speed can reach 186km/h. All editions come with a four-year or 120,000 km warranty.

At the launch ceremony, Chery's chairman and CEO Yin Tongyao revealed that the company will roll out more Chery A3 models of different engine sizes in the coming months after the 1.6L Chery A3 to expand the A3 lineup. The follow-up A3 cars will include 1.8L, 2.0L diesel models and low-emission turbocharged models.

And the automatic Chery A3 model will go on sale by June 2009. It will be equipped with the same AT as Peugeot 307, because Chery will not produce its self-developed transmissions until October 2009.

As the third model in Chery's A series (after A1 and A5), the Chery A3 is seen as the most important new model of Chery Auto, who aims to sell 100,000 A3 cars annually in the coming years.

The Pininfarina-designed Chery A3 sedan has fused the elegant European styling with dynamic fashion for comfort.
