Nissan X-Trail to sell next month to rival Honda CR-V

By George Gao  From:Gasgoo.comOctober 08, 2008

Shanghai, October 8 (Gasgoo.com) The all-new Nissan X-Trail SUV made in China will go on sale in the Chinese market in November, said xinhuanet.com yesterday. This model will compete with the Honda CR-V in China's SUV segment.

Dongfeng Nissan, a joint venture between Dongfeng Motor Corp and Japan's Nissan Motor Co, celebrated its 1 millionth car's rolling-off-line on September 19 in its passenger vehicle factory in Guangzhou. The 1 millionth car, X-Trail, is Nissan's latest SUV model, which is equipped with either 2.0L or 2.5L engine and will be priced at around 250,000 yuan ($36,600), cheaper than the imported model by 40,000 to 80,000 yuan.

The Nissan X-Trail car locally built in China will enter Dongfeng Nissan 4S stores later this month. Sales staff of the stores said that customers who have paid an upfront fee of 10,000 yuan to 20,000 yuan can pick up the X-Trail SUV by early November, when it officially goes on sale.

In the Chinese market, the locally-made Nissan X-Trail SUV will have Dongfeng Honda CR-V as its main rival, especially in the pricing, for which the Honda CR-V SUV is said to be marked down by 5,000 yuan. But the dynamic, muscular sporty features are expected to win Nissan X-Trail many male customers in China.

The rolling off line of the X-Trail, as the 1 millionth passenger car of the joint venture, indicates the company has stepped into its second golden age, said a top executive of Dongfeng Nissan, adding that the company aims to become the top passenger vehicle maker in the Chinese market.
