Shanghai, December 26 (Gasgoo.com) Chery Auto has decided to launch an all-new Eastar model -- Eastar limousine -- in 2009, said xinhuanet.com today citing a Chery insider. The limo model will sell from 101,800 ($14,900) to 128,800 yuan, more expensive by just 10,000 yuan than the old Eastar model.
Chery Auto has sold its Eastar (Son of East) cars for many years, but now the model is getting outdated and its sales are not promising in the increasingly competitve market. The source said that the Chery Eastar limo is an all-new revamp of the previous Eastar model and will feature many upgraded practical configurations.
The Eastar model of Chery Auto has targeted at the mid- and high-end market of business sedans, and in 2009 Eastar will present itself as an all-new limo in this market. In addition to a 2.0L automatic edition, a 1.9L diesel edition of Eastar limo will be released as well next year.
Its price will be 10,000 yuan higher than the old Eastar model now available for 91,800-118,800 yuan in the market. The all-new Eastar limo is expected to restore Chery Eastar to its former glory.
