Mitsubishi to qualify more cars for tax breaks

From:BloombergMay 25, 2009

Mitsubishi Motors Corp. may double its lineup of vehicles qualified for tax reductions under Japan's efficiency and emission standards, Nikkei English News said without citing a source.

Seven of the automaker's models currently qualify for the tax breaks, Nikkei said. Mitsubishi Motors hopes to double that number by improving engine performance and reducing weight of other models, along with its debut of the all-electric i MiEV car this July, according to the report.

Mitsubishi Motors expects the tax breaks and other government incentives for car buyers to help boost sales by 24,000 units, Nikkei said.
