Shanghai, August 7 (Gasgoo.com) Mazda Motor Corp said today its retail car sales in China in July rose 23.8% from a year earlier to 13,387 units, Reuters reported.

China sales of Mazda cars in the first seven months this year came to 91,883 units, up 24.4% from a year earlier, the Japanese car maker said in a statement. Sales of its Mazda2 and Mazda3 cars grew 81% to 5,564 units last month in the Chinese market.

China began to overtake the United States in January as the world's largest auto market, and has been a leading bright spot in the struggling global auto industry, as the Chinese government's incentives have picked up auto demands.

Another Japanese carmaker Honda Motor sold 50,647 cars in July, up 14.9% from a year earlier.

Ford Motor, which runs a three-way car venture with Mazda and Chongqing Changan Auto, sold 19,486 Ford-brand cars in China last month, up 54% year on year.
