Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology has inserted the first batch of five new energy vehicles into the Catalogue of Recommended Models in Energy Saving and New Energy Vehicle Demonstration Application to encourage people into buying small displacement and low energy consumption vehicles.
The five models are IVECO's electric service vehicle, JAC's electricity engineering electric vehicle for city electricity system maintenance and repairing, Zotye's electric light bus, BYD's hybrid car and JMC Transit's electric service vehicle.
Of the five recommended models, four are commercial vehicles, and one passenger vehicle, referring to the BYD F3DM hybrid car, with the electricity consumption cost only one fourth of the fuel use.
The first step for the vehicles to gain government subsidies is to be written on the list. They must also meet certain standards in energy efficiency, and their key parts must reach requirements on quality and output capacity, according to the subsidy policy released in February.
The subsidies will provide up to 50,000 yuan for every hybrid vehicle and 60,000 yuan for electric ones.
