Shanghai, September 29 (Gasgoo.com) Guangzhou Honda Automobile Co. Ltd, Honda Motor Co's Chinese joint venture with Guangzhou Automobile Industry Group Co, issued a recall of 9,464 units of 2009 Accord vehicles in China beginning today because of airbag system defects , the country's quality supervisor said.
The recall includes 8,752 Accord sedans manufactured from April. 8, 2009, to June. 8, 2009, and 712 Accord sedans made between March. 24, 2009, to August. 20, 2009.
According to the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine (GAQSIQ), there is a chance that some of the cars may have weak fabric connections installed to the side airbag which may break and injure the passengers.
Guangzhou Honda will conduct checks and maintenance free of charge.
