Shanghai, October 9 (Gasgoo.com) Chery Auto is set to launch the first mid-size sedan model of its luxury sub-brand Riich next month, China Car Times said. The Riich G5 is Chery's first entry model into the premium sedan segment.
As Chery's self-developed luxury sedan, the Riich G5 will be coming first with a 5-speed manual gearbox which might not help it sales much until an automatic version is launched. Usually most premium cars are launched first with an automatic gearbox, and then their manual version.
The Riich G5 is a very well built car judging on what we saw at the 2009 Shanghai Auto Show in April. The G5 will be equipped with a 2.0 Turbo-powered engine which translates into 170bhp, and 235Nm of torque at 1900rpm.
A naturally aspirated 2.0L version will also be launched with power peaking at 104kw at 5800rpm and a max torque of 186Nm. The engine is from Chery's own ACTECO range.
Other features of the Riich G5 include a DVD-GPS navigation system as standard, as well as parking sensors, blue tooth integration and keyless entry.
The Riich G5 is expected to cost around 150,000 yuan ($22,000) when launched in November, though its pricing has not yet been announced.
