Shanghai, October 22 (Gasgoo.com) Mazda Motor sold a record number of vehicles in China during the fiscal first half as government stimulus measures boosted demand, Bloomberg reported today.

The Japanese carmaker sold 91,000 vehicles in China in the six months through September. Its China sales last month rose 65% to a monthly record of 16,175 units. The company has not provided the first-half sales growth rate yet.

For the first nine months of the year, Mazda sold a total of 122,476 vehicles in the Chinese market, an increase of 31% that paves the way for the company to achieve China sales target of 170,000 units for the full year.

Incentives helped China's monthly passenger-car sales surge 84% in September from a year earlier, topping 1 million for the first time. Mazda builds cars in China at two joint ventures: Changan Ford Mazda and FAW Mazda.

In September, Changan Ford Mazda sold 6,965 vehicles, up 98% from a year earlier, another monthly high, and FAW Mazda's sales increased 47% to 9,210 units. The latter will launch three new car models next year.
