Shanghai, December 2 (Gasgoo.com) Japanese automaker Mazda Motor plans to bring a large MPV model, Mazda8, to the Chinese market in 2010, to help lift the company's China sales to 200,000 units next year, SinoCast reported, citing an executive at Mazda China.
Mazda China will have no problem reaching its 2009 sales target of 170,000 vehicles, up 33% year on year, predicted the executive, who is satisfied with the company's growth in China this year.
In the first ten months of this year, Mazda China sold 137,000 vehicles, surging 31% from a year earlier. In October alone, its sales volume aggregately hit 14,498, hiking 32% year on year.
Mazda Motor has two joint ventures in China, Chang'an Ford Mazda Automobile Co. and FAW Mazda Motor Sales Co. Since the second half of 2009, Mazda China has been seeking opportunities for Chang'an Ford Mazda to sell imported vehicles.
The two ventures have limited output to meet the market demand, and some Mazda vehicles will be imported. FAW Mazda has more products, so the imported Mazda3 hatchback is shifting to the sales network of Chang'an Ford Mazda, which makes and sells the mazda3 sedan.
