Recently, a source from Beijing Benz-Daimler Chrysler AG said Beijing Benz will gradually cease JEEP2500 and Pajero Sports models, and Benz and Chrysler brands are their main models and will concentrate on the domestic luxury car market.
It is believed that since the introduction of Mercedes Benz E-class cars, the sales increased steadily. In the last two months of 2006 the sales figure had risen to almost 900 vehicles directly, close to the past peak in February 2006. Mercedes brand sales reached 5,000 vehicles last year, in February this year, sales were more than that of the BMW 5 series. And the Chrysler 300C launched in November last year has quite good performance, sales were more than 1000 per month. Therefore, currently Beijing Benz is in the process of adjusting the layout of their own products, the production of Beijing Jeep and some other models will be suspended or transferred to other plant.
