Citing an unnamed official from Nanjing Auto's MG Automotive unit, the report said the MG-TF sports car adopts core technologies used in Formula 1 racing cars which gives it high maneuverability and superior decency. The model features a 135 bhp mid-engine, rear-wheel drive, accelerates in 8.2 seconds to 100 kph and reaches a top speed of 205mph.

Nanjing MG has officially launched the another MG 7 last weekend. The new saloon, built at a state of the art production facility in Nanjing, retains the character of the former British-built MG ZT in terms of both design and quality.

In China, the price of the MG7 ranges from $26,600 to $39,000. The company has already received more than 3,000 orders during an earlier road show in selected cities, but customers still have to wait for spot goods due to production capacity, said the report.

Commenting on the introduction of the MG series vehicles, Nanjing MG’s sales director Yang Junhu said: "We are bringing British automotive culture to our country. Until now no other car from a British marque has been manufactured and sold in China, and customers are responding positively to the brand."

"We are keeping the original British flavor," Nanjing MG general manager Zhang Xin said, adding that the company wants to sell the cars not just in China but around the world.

Currently the MG plant in Nanjing is capable of producing 200,000 cars, 250,000 engines and 100,000 gearboxes annually.

Nanjing MG started to build some MGs at Britain's Longbridge factory for the European market this May, and the firm plans to start producing MGs for the US market in Ardmore, southern Oklahoma, next year.

Nanjing Auto acquired bankrupt MG Rover's models and assets for $104 million in 2005, outbidding China's biggest carmaker Shanghai Automotive Industry Corp (SAIC).
