Shanghai. October 23 (Gasgoo.com) Lexus has no plan for local production in China in the near future. Among many things, auto parts supply is a major factor that hampers Lexus's local producton plan, Shanghai Securities News reported today.
A senior official from Guangzhou Honda said earlier the company had no plan to locally produce Lexus in China until its sales volume hits 50,000 units.
However, Zeng Lintang, deputy general manager of Honda Motor of China, said "an inadequate auto parts supply system is the most critical factor that hampers Lexus's local production plan in China."
According to Toyota Motor's global business experience, a mature and efficient auto parts supply system has to be formed before local production of Toyota cars in any country.
