Shanghai, March 27 (Gasgoo.com) China National Heavy Duty Truck Group Co., Ltd or Sinotruck recently announced that the company has applied for more than 800 patents so far, and 626 of them have been acknowledged by the authorities, making it the vehicle maker with the most patents in the country's auto industry, according to a Xinhua news report.
"Of all the 626 approved by State Intellectual Property Office of P. R. China, 52 are for inventions and 84 are for designs," said Ma Chunji, Board Chairman of Sinotruck.
At the national people's congress earlier this month, Ma stressed that improving independent innovation capability should be the central part of the changing economic development mode, and strengthening independent innovation capability will make China’s equipment manufacturing stronger. Sinotruck, as a large state-owned enterprise, will play its key role in the innovation in China’s future auto manufacturing, he said.
The Shandong-based Sinotruck is China's largest heavy truck maker, which now holds 20.8 percent of the country's heavy truck market. Last year Sinotruck's heavy truck output topped 100,000 units.
The company said this week that it aims to sell 125,000 -- 135,000 heavy trucks by the end of this year, reaching its sales target two years ahead of its original plan.
