By Ally Liu  From Gasgoo.comOctober 14, 2009

Shanghai, October 14 (Gasgoo.com) General Motors Co's China president said on Wednesday he expects GM sales in Chinese market to continue to grow next year no matter whether the Chinese government will keep stimulus meaures.

"We expect our sales to continue to grow, even a little faster than the industry next year," Mr Kevin Wale told a group of reporters via an online web briefing.

Mr Wale said he is confident the (Chinese) government will take appropriate actions next year to continue stability in the market. And natural demand and growth in tier 2, 3 and 4 cities should also ensure some growth momentum.

GM's China vehicle sales in the first nine months of this year jumped 55.6 percent from a year earlier, hitting a record with 1,292,549 units being sold.

Asked in what way will GM support Tengzhong Heavy Industrial Machinery Co after it bought Hummer unit, Mr Wale said GM's support will primarily come be from previous Hummer marketing organisation in the US as well as in continued product supply from the US. Other support needed from manufacturing and other related functions are also possible.
