Shanghai, June 1 (Gasgoo.com) China's leading automaker SAIC Motor will start producing its self-developed MG6 model in its Longbridge plant in Birmingham, central England, at the end of 2010 and plans to launch it to the English market in the first quarter of 2011.


Besides, it will introduce its Roewe 350 model, previously launched in China, into the Longbridge plant next year, with the MG badge stuck on the front of it, SAIC president Chen Hong said recently.

SAIC plans to manufacture and sell the new right-hand drive Roewe 350 hatchback model in England, but has not disclosed the specific schedule yet.

Moreover, it is reported that the second phase of Nanjing Pukou facility, SAIC's own-brand vehicle project, has been completed in March this year, and the facility is now the company's manufacturing base of the A-Class sedans and small displacement engines. The Roewe model and the A-Class MG models are currently being produced here.

In 2009, SAIC sold 90,000 own-brand vehicles in China, up 153% from a year earlier and the vehicles have started making profit as well.

In 2010, SAIC plans to launch 4 new models, covering the B-Class, A-Class, A0-Class and the SUV segments, aiming to meet its annual sales target of 180,000 units.
