FAW Volkswagen Tianjin Factory will be completed and introduces new pure power motor project from Germany

Shanghai (Gasgoo)- FAW Volkswagen Tianjin factory officially started construction on May 18th last year. According to plan, the fifth FAW Volkswagen factory will be put into production next year, since the main project construction is coming to an end. Currently, FAW Volkswagen has four vehicle manufacturing plants. Once the fifth one begins production, the joint venture’s annual capacity will be up to 3m units.

It’s known that Tianjin factory will have an annual capacity of 300,000 units after completion with annual sales revenue reaching RMB 55b and staff number exceeding 6,000. It’s also predicted that nearly 40 part providers will locate in Tianjin and their total production value would reach RMB 30b to 40b when mass production is achieved.

Tianjin NDRC released its project plan for Volkswagen transmission DQ400e on September 28th with a total investment of RMB 281.3m and an annual capacity of 180,000 units for two periods.

Volkswagen Tianjin company, registered on July 16, 2012, is responsible for producing several transmission projects including DQ380, DQ500, DL382, DQ381 and DQ400e. In the meantime, Volkswagen Tianjin also introduces the high-technology new pure power motor project APP 290 from Germany with a total investment of RMB 1.149b. The project will be put into production in December, 2018, with an annual capacity of 120,000 units, which is an important part of Volkswagen Group’s pure power motor strategy in domestic market.
