SAIC Volkswagen will launch six new SUV models next year

Shanghai (Gasgoo)- After the launch of New Tiguan L, Tiguan 300TSI, Teramont and Kodiaq this year, Volkswagen and Skoda brands under SAIC Volkswagen plan to launch six new SUV models in 2018 covering small to large size vehicle markets.

It’s also introduced that Skoda will invest EUR 2 billion to China market in the future five years for brand construction, R&D on electric buses and new models, in which SUV models are an important part.

New compact SUV model KAROQ will be launched into market in March next year. The new model uses straight waterfall air-inlet grilles with chrome-plated decoration. The fog lights lie beneath headlights. The model has petal wheel hub and black bottom plate in body size with double “C”-shape taillights. The model has a body size of 4,432mm*1,841mm*1,604mm with a wheelbase of 2,688mm, 50mm longer than overseas version. The power system equips with 1.2T and 1.4T engines, and transmission system matches with 7-speed dual-clutch gearbox.

Small-size SUV model T-Cross has a lower product positioning than T-Roc. The new model’s air-inlet grille blends with headlights wrapped with silver chrome-plated banners. Bottom bumper adopts “X”-shape design decorated with black wrappings. Its power system may equip with 1.0T 3-cylinder turbocharged engine, 1.4T and 2.0T 4-cylinder turbocharged engines with maximum power of 85KW, 110KW and 140KW respectively. Transmission system may equip with 6-speed AT and 7-speed dual-clutch gearboxes.

Tiguan NF PHEV model is designed on the basis of Tiguan GTE concept model with power system combining from 1.4TSI engine and a motor engine, producing maximum power of 160KW. The new model equips with 13KWH lithium ion batteries and its cruise mileage reaches 50KM with blade batteries, providing largest speed of 130KM/H. Its oil consumption only reaches 1.9L/100KM under hybrid mode with 8.1 seconds acceleration time for every hundred kilometers.

Middle-and-large-size SUV Teramont polar version made debut on Guangzhou Auto Show with similar appearance with current model. Major changes take place in the black rear mirrors, wheel rims and roofs, showing a sporting image. Besides, the new model has adjustable seats, three zone automatic air-conditioner system and side visors.
