SAIC Motor delivered 574,430 vehicles in May with a year-on-year sales increase of 14.8%. Over the first five months, its cumulative sales rose 11.6% from a year ago to 2,965,960 units.

The top 3 subsidiaries by May sales were SAIC Volkswagen, SAIC-GM-Wuling, and SAIC-GM with 492,329 units handed over in total, accounting for around 86% of the group's total monthly sales. Apart from Naveco and Sunwin Bus, the other subsidiaries all achieved year-on-year sales growth last month. Especially, SAIC-CP sported a year-on-year leap up to 111.5% to 2,155 units.

Dongfeng Motor

Dongfeng Motor Corporation (Dongfeng Motor) announced on June 8 that its year-to-date sales reached 1,606,700 units by the end of May, up by 4.36% from the previous year and achieving year-on-year growth for 3 months in a row. The cumulative deliveries of passenger vehicles (PV) and commercial vehicles (CV) grew 3.99% and 6.32% over a year ago to 1,347,600 units and 259,100 units. Besides, a total of 6,500 electric vehicles (EV) were delivered through May.

Dongfeng Motor sported a year-on-year sales growth of 5.49% with 311,400 vehicles delivered in May. Its monthly PV sales totaled 257,500 units, increasing 5.39% over the year-ago period. Around 53,900 CVs were handed over to customers last month, rising 5.95% from the previous year.

Changan Auto

Chongqing Changan Automobile Co., Ltd (Changan Auto) delivered 174,190 vehicles in May, suffering a year-on-year drop of 11.3% and a month-on-month decline of 6.7%. For the first five months, the automaker saw its cumulative sales reaching 1,019,208 units. Besides, the automaker delivered a total of 7,050 EVs last month, according to the data the company released on June 9.

Changan Ford suffered a year-on-year slump of 49.2% with 30,366 vehicles delivered in May. From January to May, the company witnessed its aggregate deliveries reaching 198,617 units. Changan Mazda's May sales reached 15,812 units, rising 12.5% year on year, while edging down 2.6% month on month. Moreover, Jiangling Motors Holding sported a year-on-year jump of 23.2% in May with a sales volume up to 33,462 units and boasted a month-on-month growth of 18.4% as well.

GAC Group

GAC Group delivered a total of 837,817 vehicles for the first five months, achieving a year-on-year growth of 5.72% and its monthly sales were 165,070 units in May.

GAC Group posted a passenger vehicle (PV) sales volume of 164,565 units last month. By the end of May, the group has achieved a sales volume of 835,865 PVs in 2018 with a year-on-year increase of 5.55%. With regard to segments, the deliveries of sedans and SUVs reached 73,677 units and 84,019 units in May. From January to May, 359,527 units of sedans were delivered with a year-on-year jump of 12.3%. Meanwhile, the year-to-date SUV deliveries were up to 447,299 units, accounting for 53% of the company's total cumulative deliveries.

Geely Auto

Geely Auto's monthly sales reached 123,068 vehicles in May, zooming 61% year on year. Over the first five months, its cumulative deliveries leaped 44% from a year ago to 638,181 units, which has completed 40% of its 2018 sales target of 1.58 million units, the company reported on June 6.

Through May, the sales of the Borui and the Boyue totaled 132,099 units. The Jan-May sales of the Emgrand family reached 240,094 units. Besides, 219,890 units of the Vision family were delivered for the first five months. Moreover, the May sales of the Lynk & Co 01 set a new high of 9,234 units.

Great Wall Motor

Great Wall Motor (GWM) posted May sales of 70,900 units with a slight year-on-year decrease of 2.85%. To be specific, sales of SUVs reached 58,700 units, representing a slight growth of 0.51% over the previous year. During the past five months, GWM's cumulative sales totaled 409,300 units with a year-on-year increase of 3.29%.

In May, Haval's SUVs except the H9 all suffered sales decline to different degrees. The total sales of Haval SUVs reached 47,610 units, slumping 18.46% year on year. Meanwhile, GWM's high-end brand WEY suffered substantial sales drop for both the VV5 and the VV7. The total sales of both models only reached 10,576 units in May. Specifically, deliveries of the VV5 and the VV7 reached 5,562 units and 5,014 units respectively in May.

Chery Auto

Chery Automobile sold 65,593 vehicles in May, seeing a year-on-year jump of 26.6%. Last month, its vehicle export volume reached 15,020 units, surging 48.6% from a year ago, according to the company's sales report.

As to brands, Chery brand delivered 38,758 units with an increase of 17.5% on an annual basis. Chery Jaguar Land Rover handed over 7,037 units in May, achieving a slight growth of 3.4% from the same period last year. Sales of commercial vehicles reached 11,243 units, soaring 100.7% year on year. Qoros' monthly deliveries in May reached a new high of 7,028 units, skyrocketing 538.7% over the same period last year.

BYD Auto

BYD reported its sales of 37,780 units in May, seeing a slight growth compared to last month. The cumulative sales through May reached 186,920 units. Specifically, fuel-powered vehicles' May sales and YTD sales reached 23,539 units and 129,124 units respectively. Deliveries of new energy vehicles (NEV) totaled 14,241 units in May, and NEV's cumulative sales reached 57,796 units till the end of May.

As to fuel-powered vehicles, sales of sedan, SUV and MPV reached 4,634 units, 4,620 units and 14,285 units respectively in May. Generally speaking, BYD's fuel-powered vehicles suffered unstable sales performance during the past five months. In January, its sales reached 35,008 units, but declined to 17,916 units in February. In March, BYD saw sales revival of fuel-powered vehicles to nearly 30,000 units. During March and May, BYD posted stable sales performance. Particularly, sales gap between April and May was less than 100 units.

JAC Motors

JAC Motors delivered a total of 35,096 vehicles and chassis in May with a year-on-year drop of 2.82%. From January to May, the cumulative sales of the automaker's vehicles and chassis reached 223,782 units, declining 6.68% from a year ago.

In addition, JAC Motors exported 5,843 vehicles in total, achieving a year-on-year jump of 22.86%. By the end of May, the automaker's year-to-date export volume grew 5.8% from the previous year to 33,364 units.
