Shanghai (Gasgoo)- At the CES Asia 2018, Baidu announced on June 13 that it will expand cooperation with Hyundai Motor in autonomous driving area. On June 14, the Chinese Internet giant will sign an agreement with BMW Group to cooperate in vehicle-home connectivity and jointly explore the new human-vehicle interaction modes. In addition, Baidu will build partnership with the EV startup BYTON based on the in-vehicle AI platform, the DuerOS for Apollo.
Baidu, who chose “mass production” as its theme for the exhibition, showcased a comprehensive intelligent driving products' lineup to demonstrate its achievements in such areas as autonomous driving, IoV (Internet of Vehicles) and vehicle cybersecurity, etc.
To be specific, the company brought a range of mass-producible commercial solutions of autonomous driving, including Apollo Pilot, Apollo Computing Unit (ACU), Intelligent Map and Valet Parking.
Reportedly, the Apollo Pilot is a kind of mass-producible autonomous driving system that is designed for Chinese users in line with China's traffic conditions. It has been currently used in various scenarios such as car-sharing, passenger vehicles and commercial vehicles, etc.
The ACU is China's first mass-producible in-vehicle autonomous driving computing platform, which features two basic capabilities, information security and cloud updating, and three core AI modules, namely, high-precision positioning, environment perception and decision-planning.
Additionally, the Valet Parking could endow shared vehicles with functions like automatic parking, automatic charging and remote-hailing. It is noteworthy that Baidu and Panda Auto, an EV rental operator under the Chongqing-based automaker Lifan Group, jointly launched the China's first shared autonomous vehicle pilot program in Chongqing on May 24. The trial operation deploys six autonomous vehicles, which are equipped with the Valet Parking, for the public for nearly one month.
