Faraday Future may launch FF81, but denies providing simple-spec models

Shanghai (Gasgoo)- A recent rumor said that Faraday Future (FF) may introduce a simple-spec model, the FF81 into the Chinese market. When asked about the comment on the news, the relevant director of Faraday Future didn't deny it but said implicitly that FF now concentrates on the mass production of the FF91, and it is too early to talk about future models.

FF announced on June 8 that Bernards, a commercial builder located in San Fernando, California, would serve as the general contractor for the FF factory in Hanford, California.

The confirmation of the general contractor for Faraday Future's Hanford factory marked a significant step forward for FF in its mission to deliver the FF 91, its first mass-produced vehicle.

The FF81's technological designing will be completed by FF's American team, while the forthcoming development and testing, manufacturing and marketing will be conducted in China, according to the person who participates in the model designing.

However, the relevant director of FF only exposed that since FF implemented a strategy which focuses on both Chinese and American markets, any new model is likely to be manufactured in China and the United States.

What's more, the FF81, which will be priced at half or one-third of the FF91's price, is also reportedly tailored for Chinese consumers. The abovementioned person close to model designing said that the FF91 is the luxury edition, while the FF81 is a simple-spec edition.

When it comes to the local production of the FF81, FF's relevant director explained that they would never offer any simple-spec editions for their models.

A person close to FF exposed that FF plans to develop and manufacture two new models by the end of 2020. On the afternoon of May 11, Jia Yueting released a letter to celebrate FF's four-year anniversary of foundation, confirming that FF will see its Hanford plant's official construction and the installation of manufacturing equipment in May. What's more, FF's Chinese headquarters will be based in Guangzhou, and the Guangzhou factory will start production as scheduled.
