China vehicle sales climb 4.79% year on year in June

Shanghai (Gasgoo)- In June, the total vehicle outputs and sales in China reached 2.2896 million units and 2.2737 million units, up by 5.77% and 4.79% year on year, while edging down 2.33% and 0.61% over the previous month, according to the data released by China Association of Automobile Manufacturers (CAAM).

As to the performance for the first six months, both outputs and sales achieved positive year-on-year growth, 4.15% and 5.57% to 14.0577 million units and 14.0665 million units respectively.

China's total passenger vehicle (PV) outputs in June were 1.9308 million units, increasing 4.66% from a year earlier, while slightly dropping 1.2% month on month. Meanwhile, a total of 1.8742 million PVs were handed over in the world's largest auto market last month, an increase of 2.31% compared with the corresponding period of one year ago. 

The top 10 Chinese automakers by June sales were SAIC Motor, Dongfeng Motor, FAW Group, BAIC Group, Changan Automobile, GAC Group, Geely Auto, Brilliance Auto, Great Wall Motor, Chery Automobile. Over the previous month, BAIC Group enjoyed the fastest year-on-year sales growth in June. Changan Automobile, GAC Group and Brilliance Auto achieved positive year-on-year growth, while the rates were rather low compared with previous months in this year. The other six automakers all faced year-on-year sales decline to different degrees. The combined sales of the top 10 automakers were 2.0373 million units, accounting for 89.6% of the total sales nationwide in June.

Apart from the SUV segment, the outputs of the car, MPV and Minibus segments showed month-on-month decline in June. Especially, the MPV monthly outputs slumped 25.42% from a year ago to 125,700 units.

As to the sales, the year-to-date sales of MPV and minibus segments decreased by 12.72% and 25.88% over the year-ago period to 881,900 units and 234,700 units respectively.
