Shanghai (Gasgoo)- Chinese automaker Geely Auto has been independently developing an all-new automobile platform dubbed BMA (B-segment modular architecture) after the company and Volvo Cars jointly develop the CMA (compact modular architecture) platform.

Although the name contains “B-segment”, the BMA platform boasts highly scalability, which widely covers a number of segments, including SUV, sedan, crossover, wagon and MPV, etc. Reportedly, the first model coming from the new platform will be a small-sized SUV model code-named Geely SX11.

Geely Auto disclosed that the models based on the BMA platform will enjoy more spacious passenger room, more diversified powertrains as well as various active and passive safety equipment and ADAS (advanced driver assistance system). Moreover, the BMA platform will provide vehicles with a variety of engine alternatives, such as 1.0T direct injection, 1.4T and 1.5T direct injection engines.

According to the patent image exposed before, the BMA platform's first SUV model likely be named Xingyue (in Chinese). The fuel-driven version may provide two power variants, a 1.0T direct injection engine and a 1.5T direct injection engine, which can output maximum power of 136hp and 177hp respectively. The plug-in EV version is outfitted with a hybrid powertrain system, comprising a 1.5T in-line three-cylinder engine, a motor and ternary-lithium battery pack. Under the electric-driven mode, its driving mileage could be up to 62km.
