XPENG Motors teams up with Xiaomi’s wearable tec provider on vehicle-wearable connectivity

Shanghai (Gasgoo)- XPENG Motors on June 11 struck a cooperation deal with Huami, the exclusive provider of wearable technology for the smart phone giant Xiaomi, to jointly explore the multi-scenarios connectivity between intelligent vehicles and smart wearables, according to the EV startup.

The XPENG P7, the Guangzhou-based EV maker's second production model, will be available to form the connection with Huami's Amazfit-branded smart wearables. Based on the in-house NFC (near-field communication) technology of Amazfit's smartwatch, users are able to remotely lock and unlock the P7's car doors and activate the vehicle, said XPENG Motors.

In the near future, both parties will make use of their respective technical advantages to push synergy between wearables and smart travelling. The smart device developer will be dedicated to promoting the integration of wearables and automobile intelligence and satisfying more diversified consumers' needs by extending the coverage of vehicle categories that are available to smart wearables.

At the AWE 2019 (Appliance & electronics World Expo 2019) in March, XEPNG Motors forged a partnership with Viomi, a provider of internet-connected home appliances to Xiaomi. According to Chen Xiaoping, CEO of Viomi, the cooperation aims to achieve the interconnection among home, community and automobiles.

For instance, users can remotely complete a series of operations over the XPENG G3, such as turning on the air conditioner, unlocking car doors, and check the remaining battery energy, the status of car doors and the inside temperature by using Viomi's smart speaker.
