Shanghai (Gasgoo)- On Feb. 27, WM Motor saw its first batch of EX6 Plus BEVs rolled off the production line at the Wenzhou-based intelligent manufacturing base after the plant restarted production.

Due to the coronavirus outbreak, most automakers in China are forced to extend the shutdown of their operation and manufacturing business. After resuming production on Feb. 21, the Wenzhou base, including complete vehicle and battery pack factories, is running full steam ahead.

It is noteworthy that Wenzhou, the city where the startup's self-built plant is based, is one of the hardest-hit regions during the epidemic spread. Partly for that reason, the WM EX5 dropped to the fifth place among NEV models made by Chinese startups with its Jan. insurance registration reaching only 808 units, according to the China Insurance Regulatory Commission.

Despite the sales downturn, WM Motor still donated to Huanggang substantial amount of medical supplies, vehicles and cash, which are worth RMB4 million in total. On Feb. 6, its mobility service brand GETnGO provided Hainan provincial government with 100 WM EX5s to support local epidemic containment.

Positioned as a mid-sized all-electric SUV, the EX6 Plus is the startup's second mass-produced model that hit the market at the 2019 Auto Guangzhou. Priced at RMB239,999 and RMB189,999 after subsidy, its two variants features NEDC-rated range of 503km and 408km respectively.

A bunch of “contactless” and “automation” businesses are flourishing during the epidemic. WM Motor said the “Living Engine” smart interaction system introduced across its entire lineup allows users to activate the in-car AI assistant and popular applications like Baidu Maps, QQMusic, Ximalaya and iQIYI via a simple voice command.

Moreover, the level 2 intelligent driver assistance system befitting China's special road conditions has been put into scale use in the WM EX5 SUVs.
