Great Wall Motor announces robust YoY growth of 14% in Apr. 2021 sales

Shanghai (Gasgoo)- Great Wall Motor (GWM) announced its new vehicle sales for April grew 14% year on year to 91,784 units, of which 9,081 vehicles were exported outside China, an upward movement of 349% from the previous year.

For the first four months of 2021, the automaker sold 430,582 new vehicles in total, posting a year-over-year leap of 86%.

Haval brand's sales in April edged down 3.6% to 55,018 units, resulting in 277,746 units in year-to-date sales volume. With 28,019 units sold, the Haval H6 boasted a year-on-year increase of 17% last month. Meanwhile, the Apr. sales of the Haval M6 amounted to 10,182 units.

Two Haval-branded concepts named X DOG and XY made their first appearances at the Auto Shanghai 2021. In the meantime, the automaker kicked off the presale of the Haval Chitu, which is set to hit the market in late May.

GWM sold 20,200 pickups in April, representing a jump of 28% from the year-ago period. With a sales volume of 10,006 units (+25% YoY) in April, the POER was still honored the best-selling pickup model in China.

WEY saw its sales in April plunge 41% to 3,590 units mainly as TANK was separated as a standalone brand.

Three models—the VV5, the VV6, and the VV7—from WEY's city SUV matrix all come with both fuel-burning and hybrid powertrains. In addition, WEY plans to roll out three all-new models of the Coffee series.

The BEV-focused brand ORA scored a remarkable sales growth of 324% in April by selling 7,476 vehicles. Notably, the Apr. sales of the ORA Black Cat shot up 162% over the prior-year period to 4,613 units.

At the Auto Shanghai 2021, GWM announced the advent of TANK brand, the fifth standalone marque of the automaker. The sales of the TANK 300 reached 5,500 units in April, a month-on-month growth of 10%, and totaled 19,823 units for the Jan.-Apr. period.
