Shanghai (Gasgoo)- BAIC DATA, a subsidiary of China's state-owned automaker BAIC Group, unveiled on November 29 a lab focusing on Internet of Vehicles (IoV) security system jointly built with CEC Industrial Internet and Qi An Xin Group.

Through the newly-unveiled lab, three parties will be dedicated to researching and developing IoV security technology, and constructing a defense system by making full use of their respective merits in IoV, industrial Internet and cybersecurity, aiming to jointly explore the IoV security-focused market.

The lab is designed to have four research directions, including promoting the building of a technical R&D hub for ICV (intelligent-connected vehicle) cybersecurity, forming an auto cybersecurity testing & verification system and a vocational education service system, carrying out researches about auto-related digital factory construction and industrial cybersecurity, as well as developing a facility to operate the big data of automotive industrial cybersecurity, according to Zuo Yingnan, vice president of Qi An Xin Group.

The four directions set for the lab embody three companies' wish to enhance their capability of independently developing auto cybersecurity technologies, and to help improve the overall industry's technical level.

According to the Intelligent Vehicle Innovation & Development Strategy released by China's National Development and Reform Commission, by 2020, 50% of new cars sold in China would be intelligent vehicles, and most new cars sold would be intelligent vehicles by 2025. Then, cybersecurity will become the foremost issue that is closely associated with user's life and property safety and the public security. Thus, making the IoV secured has been the urgent business that should be prioritized now, said Chen Jiangwei, chairman of BAIC DATA, adding that relevant industrial resources should be integrated through the joint works from various parties, instead of relying on standalone efforts offered by a few companies.

BAIC DATA is co-funded by BAIC Group, BAIC Motor, BAIC ROCAR, BAIC BJEV and BAIC Mobility Co., Ltd, according to the company information search platform Tianyancha.
