From Gasgoo.com| February 28 , 2011

Gasgoo.com (Shanghai February 28) - JAC Motors has put 585 of its new Tongyue pure electric subcompact on sale in the past few days, The Beijing News reported today. The Anhui-based manufacturer further said that it was hoping to expand sales of the vehicle (pictured) to over 2,000 units.

The 585 cars put out on market were the first batch of pure electric vehicles approved for sale by the Hefei municipal government. The company's goal of 2,000 orders is the first step to it fulfilling its Twelth Five-Year Guideline (a national economic directive lasting from 2011 to 2015) goals.

According to advertisements, the Tongyue electric can be driven for 150 km on one charge, boasting relatively high battery energy density and economic savings. The cost of the battery is also reportedly very affordable, though the vehicle itself is more expensive than average.

JAC Motor has previously stated that its primary development strategy will depend on electric-powered vehicles, with the manufacturer focusing on building lithium battery-powered cars on the Tongyue and Yueyue platforms. JAC is also planning on converting the rest of its series to hybrid power in the future.
