Gasgoo.com (Shanghai April 21) - Jianghuai Automobile will release 17 new models for its Refine and Heyue brands over the next five years, Xinhua reported earlier this week.

According to Zhang Xinhuai, head of the manufacturer's product planning department, JAC aims to expand its current focus in the compact and subcompact segments to cover the midsize and fullsize segments over the next few years. Of the 17 upcoming models, three are scheduled to be announced at the Shanghai International Automobile Exhibition.

Mr. Zhang also revealed that the Anhui-based manufacturer will soon halt production of its ever first sedan, the Binyue (pictured). JAC first began manufacturing the Binyue in 2008. JAC Board Chairman Chang Anjin explains that poor sales are the reason behind the manufacturer's decision to halt the sedan's production. However, he made sure to point out the various achievements it has made, stating that it had "fulfilled its historical mission [for JAC]."
