According to Tianyancha, Huawei unveiled earlier this month a number of new patents, including an autonomous driving method and terminal device, the method and device used to control the driving direction of intelligent vehicles, and the method designed to recognize traffic lights and relevant system and computing devices.
At the 2020 China Auto Forum kicking off on August 13, Wang Jun, head of Huawei's intelligent car solution business unit, introduced the latest achievements Huawei has gained for intelligent vehicle development, including three in-car operating systems and a cross-domain integrated software architecture dubbed Vehicle Stack.
The three operating systems—HOS (Harmony OS), AOS and VOS—focus on automobile cockpit, intelligent driving and smart vehicle control respectively.
According to Wang's speech, Huawei develops the Harmony cabin operating system (namely, HOS) that targets the application scenarios of the automobile cockpit and the demands for matching the upper-level application software and the underlying hardware.
The HOS is also favorable to the decoupling of the cockpit-mounted software and hardware. Besides, based on the HOS, Huawei develops basic services for such core technologies as the voice interaction, the visual recognition and audio optimization.
The system supports the open port jointly defined with OEMs, which can be quickly developed by partners so as to form an application ecosystem.
In May 2019, Huawei launched its intelligent vehicle business unit, which works on five aspects, namely, smart driving, smart cockpit, intelligent connectivity, smart electrification and cloud service.
The leading global ICT infrastructures provider said on May 9 it has launched the 5G-enabled automobile ecosystem by cooperating with 18 automakers and mobility service providers.
The first batch of partners include FAW Group (FAW Hongqi, FAW Besturn and FAW Jiefang), Changan Automobile, Dongfeng Motor Corporation (Dongfeng Passenger Vehicle and Dongfeng Sokon), SAIC Group (SAIC Motor PV and SAIC-GM-Wuling), GAC Group (GAC NE), BAIC Group (BAIC BJEV), BYD, Great Wall Motor, Chery Holding, JAC Motors, Yutong Group, SERES, Naveco and T3 Mobility.
Within the ecosystem, Huawei and its cooperators will work on building 5G-powered vehicles that take account of the all-new driving and entertainment experience consumers perceive, and co-promoting the commercial application of 5G technologies in automobile industry.
