Huawei, Chery Automobile to cooperate on smart car solutions

Shanghai (Gasgoo)- Chery Automobile and Huawei Technologies Co.,Ltd. (Huawei) signed on Dec. 16 a framework agreement for an in-depth cooperation on cloud computing, big data, smart car solution and other technical areas, said the automaker.

Under the agreement, both parties will conduct all-around collaboration on smart car-related electrical/electronic architecture, intelligent cockpit, car-borne computing and autonomous driving systems, intelligent energy and car-cloud service. Besides, they will make joint efforts to explore 5G-enabled innovative application scenarios, and develop the technologies of 5G-based V2X (vehicle-to-everything), intelligent vehicle infrastructure cooperation and autonomous driving.

Moreover, Chery Automobile and Huawei intend to team up on the big data-related infrastructures, storage, analysis, high-performance computing and informatization, helping the automaker speed up its reform in big data era.

Wangjun, president of Huawei's Smart Car Solutions BU, said the intelligent vehicle is the outcome from the integration of ICT (information communications technology) and traditional auto industries, and the ICT-based software & hardware will play a greater role in the development of future auto industry. Facing the historic opportunity, Huawei will join hands with Chery Automobile to develop core ICT technologies, and will help the carmaker make “better vehicles” available for smart car scenarios.

Grasping the consumption trend of future mobility services, both parties will endeavor to achieve SDV (software-defined vehicle) and create better travelling experience for consumers.

Huawei said last month it would join hands with Changan Auto and CATL to launch an all-new upmarket car brand, and the first model under the brand would soon go into mass production.

“We will make joint efforts to strengthen made-in-China products and technologies, and offer users better travelling experience with our intelligent mobility solutions,” said Yu Chengdong, CEO of Huawei's Consumer BG.
