Gasgoo,(Shanghai, Mar 3) — China’s Dongfeng Motor officially launched A9 which is a high-end flagship model on February 28 this year.
A9 is the first model of high-end passenger vehicles independently developed by Dongfeng. And Dongfeng has full intellectual property right on it. A9 is the fruit reaped by the partnership between Dongfeng and PSA.
In fact, Dongfeng A9 is derived from the old model of Citroen C6, and its 1.8 T engine is supplied by Citroen. A9 shares the same production line with Citroen C5 and Peugeot 508 in the factory of Citroen.
Dongfeng will further develop the partnership with PSA, extending cooperation even to development of alternative energy vehicles in the future according to Liu Weidong, vice president of Dongfeng. In addition, Dongfeng will strengthen the cooperation with Honda, which will help it develop into a large domestic brand in China’s market.
A9 used to be named ‘Dongfeng Yihao’ and debuted on the last Beijing Auto Show where it was compared to H7 of Hongqi.
