Shanghai (Gasgoo)- Huawei reaffirmed that it has no plans to makes cars, responding to a Sichuan-based automotive engine parts supplier's announcement which shows it will furnish Huawei with some NEV-related components.
On May 22, Mianyang Fulin Precision Machining Co., Ltd. (FULIN P.M.) formally stated it has struck a deal with Huawei to offer the latter its NEV-mounted decelerators and pertinent auto parts, and both parties will team up on the electric drive assembly by leveraging their core technical products and industrial resources.

The statement once again triggered a speculation that the technology giant perhaps will develop vehicles. Huawei’s brand department replied that the company has no plans to build complete vehicles, and how the parts bought from FULIN P.M. will be used still remains unknown to-day.
Huawei is strengthening the innovation for the products of cloud computing, big data, data center and IoT (Internet of Things), said FULIN P.M.. As to the deployment in automobile applications, the Shenzhen-based company is deepening the cooperation in areas like smart transport, autonomous driving and IoV (Internet of Vehicles).
Huawei said on May 9 it had launched the 5G-enabled automobile ecosystem whose first batch of partners contains 18 automakers and mobility service provider, including FAW Group (FAW Hongqi, FAW Besturn and FAW Jiefang), Changan Automobile, Dongfeng Motor Corporation (Dongfeng Passenger Vehicle and Dongfeng Sokon), SAIC Group (SAIC Motor PV and SAIC-GM-Wuling), GAC Group (GAC NE), BAIC Group (BAIC BJEV), BYD, Great Wall Motor, Chery Holding, JAC Motors, Yutong Group, SERES, Naveco and T3 Mobility.
Within the ecosystem, Huawei and its cooperators will work on building 5G-powered vehicles that take account of the all-new driving and entertainment experience consumers can perceive, and co-promoting the commercial application of 5G technologies in automobile industry.
The leading smart device supplier has repeated in the public its ambition to be a core “increment parts” supplier for intelligent-connected vehicle (ICV) rather than a car manufacturer.
In May 2019, Huawei launched its intelligent vehicle business unit, which works on five aspects, namely, smart driving, smart cockpit, intelligent connectivity, smart electrification and cloud service.
