Located in Shanghai's International Automobile City, the newly-launched Apollo Park covers an area of nearly 10,000 square meters and aims to serve as ecosystem base pivoting on vehiles, roads, cloud, and digital maps.
According to Baidu, the company will develop the Shanghai-based Apollo Park to a control center for the operation of autonomous car fleets and a R&D hub dedicated to self-driving technologies. Besides, the newly-opened base will also provide a platform for the exhibition of cutting-edge products and industrial cooperation.
The fresh Apollo Park witnessed the move-in of such companies as WM Motor, Neolix, IdriverPlus, and YUHESEN on the first day of opening.
Baidu said there will be over 200 Apollo autonomous cars deployed at the new Apollo Park to constitute the biggest self-driving fleet in East China.
In May 2016, Baidu signed an agreement with Shanghai International Automobile City to locate its self-driving car road test project, forming the bedrock for the long-term and stable partnership between the two parties.
Prior to the Shanghai-based one, Baidu launched the Apollo Parks in Beijing last year and in Guangzhou in March 2021.
