Chery New Energy’s model likely to be named eQ5 starts at 200,000 yuan

Shanghai (Gasgoo)- Chery New Energy’s new model, code-named S61, is set to be named eQ5 judging from the logo on its rear part and expected to hit the market in the first half of this year, with price ranging between 200,000 and 250,000 yuan ($29,155-36,444).

The NEV maker has been listed in the Catalogue for the new model of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. The NEV model is the second compact pure electric SUV with lightweight all-aluminum body based on Chery New Energy’s LFS platform. The new SUV measures 4,630mm long, 1,910mm wide and 1,655mm high with a wheelbase of 2,805mm. According to the catalogue information, the new car is likely to carry two kinds of motors delivering up to 120kw or 130kw.

The model features novel appearance which is different from Chery New Energy’s typical version. Its exterior, designed by the Italian car design firm Pininfarina, adopts the concept of “ocean wave”. It features split-typed headlamps, chrome-plated trims and taillights. It is said models under the brand will follow the design style of the aforesaid model which will also get an all-new logo.
