Shanghai (Gasgoo)- GAC NE, GAC Group's NEV arm focusing on Chinese market, will put the Aion V, the third mass-produced model of its Aion series, onto the market on June 16, 2020, according to a post on GAC NE's WeChat account.

The upcoming all-electric model is at present available for presale with a post-subsidy price starting RMB170,000 (around $23,954). Based on NEDC-rated range, it will be offered in three variants—400km, 530km and 600km.

The Aion V is a pure electric compact SUV that sits below the Aion LX, Aion's second production model. It measures 4,586mm long, 1,920mm wide and 1,728mm tall, and has a wheelbase spanning 2830mm.

The front of the new model features a modern avant-garde look that is inspired by the “mechnimal”, a futuristic concept integrates machine and beast. The large-sized split-type headlights coupled with masculine lines emphasize dynamic aesthetics.

The “hidden” door handles used in the Aion LX are also seen in the Aion V. Below the car windows is a chrome-plated trim extending from the front to the D-pillar. Presenting a simple styling, the rear features a split-type taillight cluster that is in tune with the front.

According to GAC NE, China's first HD map (high-definition map) available for volume delivery and application is introduced into the Aion V to enable a precise position service accuracy at centimeter level.

The NEV automaker has three models on sale today—the Aion LX, the Aion S and the GE3 530. It reported a robust year-on-year growth of 125% in April sales with 4,006 vehicles sold, versus the 30% decrease in China's April new energy wholesales announced by the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA).
