Shanghai GM releases new Cadillac XTS in China
Gasgoo.com (Shanghai February 26) - Shanghai General Motors's new Cadillac XTS made its Chinese market debut in Guangzhou earlier this week, dfdaily.com reported today. The luxury sedan will be available with two engine choices and come in five different models priced between 349,900 yuan and 569,900 yuan ($55,678-$90,685).
The XTS (pictured), which is Cadillac's most advanced production model to date, has received widespread praise in North America. The XTS will play an important part in Shanghai GM's strategy to further develop the Cadillac brand in China.
Shanghai GM plans to sell 100,000 Cadillacs in China in 2015. 250 Cadillac dealerships, as well as a new factory and experience center, are planned to be established by that year. The JV aims for the brand to control a ten percent share in the country's luxury car market by 2020. Although there are dozens of different luxury car models sold in China, the big three German brands–BMW, Audi and Mercedes-Benz–control 89 percent of the market.
