It took only 496 days for XPeng to achieve the significant milestone, marking a growing maturity in the smart manufacturing capability of XPeng's Zhaoqing production base, said the automaker.
The Guangzhou-based EV startup on Aug. 18 broke ground on the second phase of its Zhaoqing plant. Upon completion, the phase two expansion project will increase the design production capacity at the Zhaoqing base from 100,000 units to 200,000 units per annum with the financial and land use support from Zhaoqing Municipal Government.
As XPeng's first self-built plant, the Zhaoqing factory was granted the official production license from China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology in May 2020.
The startup also builds self-owned factories in Guangzhou and Wuhan. Construction of the Wuhan-based one commenced on July 31.
In July 2021, at the first-year anniversary of customer deliveries, total P7 deliveries reached 40,612. Monthly P7 delivery volume hit a record high of 6,054 units in July. Meanwhile, the P7's Navigation Guided Pilot (NGP) highway solution improves its appeal to more tech-savvy consumers.
