Tesla sells 44,264 China-made vehicles in August
Beijing (Gasgoo)- Tesla sold 44,264 China-made vehicles in August, jumping 34.26% month over month, according to the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA).

To break down the monthly volume, Tesla shipped 31,379 China-made vehicles to overseas markets while the wholesale volume in China amounted to 12,885 vehicles, surging 49.5% compared with the previous month.
BYD continued to outsell Tesla with new energy vehicle (NEV) wholesale volume exceeded 60,000 vehicles to 60,858 in August. Both companies were followed by SAIC GM Wuling (43,783), SAIC Motor PV (16,998) and GAC AION (11,613). But Tesla shipped the most China-made NEVs to other foreign markets, followed by SAIC Motor PV (4,074), BYD (781) and AIWAYS (103).
According to the association, the monthly wholesale volume of locally-made new energy passenger vehicles in China more than tripled to 304,000 vehicles, jumping 23.7% month over month as well. For the first eight months of this year, the country’s new energy passenger vehicle wholesale volume surged 222.5% to 1.643 million vehicles.
Monthly locally-made NEV wholesale volume of Volkswagen’s two joint ventures totaled 11,756 vehicles, accounting for 69% of the total volume of all automobile joint ventures in the biggest market, the association added.
