Beijing (Gasgoo)- Insurance registrations of locally-made new vehicles in Beijing, capital of China, amounted to 49,619 vehicles in July, and its monthly registration volume of new energy vehicles (NEVs) reached 13,434 vehicles, accounting for 27.07% of the total volume, according to data from China Banking and Insurance Regulatory Commission (CBIRC).

Only one local brand was among the top 5 registered vehicle brands in Beijing last month. That is BYD. With 4,258 new vehicles registered in Beijing, BYD ranked second among all vehicle brands, followed by Honda, Toyota and Nissan. But by the year-to-date registrations in the city, BYD were the fourth on the vehicle brands list, surpassed by Honda and Toyota.

Several models from BYD were on the top 10 registered models list. Monthly registrations of the BYD Qin PRO EV were 1,135 vehicles while the respective volume of the BYD Song PLUS EV and the Han EV was around 940 vehicles.

Battery electric vehicles’ insurance registrations took up 94% of the total registration volume of NEVs in Beijing in July, with registrations reaching 12,634 vehicles. By the end of July, consumers in Beijing has registered 62,119 NEVs in total this year.

The EU5 from BAIC BJEV was the most registered model in Beijing last month. Among all 1,782 registered EU5s in July, 1,493 were for renting. Three out of the top 5 registered NEV models were from BYD and the XPeng P7 were the most registered model from Chinese NEV startups.

But the EU5’s year-to-date registrations were fewer than those of the Model 3, ranking second with 5,510 vehicles registered. The Model Y, the other model Tesla produced in China, registered 5,211 vehicles in the first seven months in Beijing.
