Beijing (Gasgoo)- China's EV startup Leapmotor's September deliveries skyrocketed more than four times from a year ago to over 4,000 vehicles but saw a decline compared to the previous month due to the worsening chip shortage, the automaker said.

The company delivered 4,095 vehicles in September, surging 432% from the same period of last year, and led to a total of 34,731 vehicles delivered since deliveries started.

The chip shortage continues to drag down production, the company said. Comparing to the automaker's August monthly delivery volume of 4,488 vehicles, September deliveries dropped 8.76%.

With 8,754 new vehicles ordered, the company saw a 15% increase in order volume month on month in September. According to the company, the order number of Leapmotor's featured T03 model was 7,541 vehicles, while the C11 model that came to market days ago was ordered 1,181 vehicles.

The C11 is the third production model and the first battery-electric SUV model of Leapmotor, which went on sale on September 28th and will be available for delivery from October this year.

The advent of the C11 signifies Leapmotor's effort towards completing its previously set annual target of selling 800,000 vehicles in 2025.
