NIO has 517 battery swap stations in China by end of Sept. 2021
Shanghai (Gasgoo)- NIO put 90 new battery swap stations into operation across China last month, the Chinese EV startup announced on Friday.
By the end of September 2021, the automaker had deployed a total of 517 battery swap stations in the country, 316 of which were launched since the first NIO Power Swap Station 2.0 starting operation in mid-April 2021.

As of September, about 36.01% NIO users had lived in the “Swap Station District Houses”, which refer to the residence within a 3-km radium from a NIO battery swap station.
Under the “NIO Power 2025” plan, the company expects 90% NIO users to be living less than 3 km away from its battery swap facilities in 2025.
The regional density of NIO's battery swap stations is recording continuous growth as well. According to the startup, the ratio of NIO's vehicles to battery swap stations reached 312 at the end of September, dropped 11.86% compared to August.
What's more, NIO had completed more than 4 million battery swaps nationwide by the end of September 2021 with daily services topping 20,000.
NIO is expand its battery swapping network to provide a better energy supply experience for its rapidly growing user base. The startup aims to have over 4,000 NIO battery swap stations worldwide with around 1,000 outside of China by the end of 2025. This year, NIO eyes over 700 battery swap stations installed by the year end.
