SAIC Motor’s new trademark likely to be Chinese name of R Auto
Shanghai (Gasgoo)- SAIC Motor has filed the application for two trademarks “SAIC Feifan” and “Feifan”, which are awaiting substantive review, according to the Trademark Office of China National Intellectual Property Administration.
A local media outlet revealed, in all likelihood, “Feifan” will be the Chinese name of R Auto, the premium new energy vehicle marque of SAIC Motor Passenger Vehicle (SAIC Motor PV).
Persons with R Auto declined to comment as relevant matters are keeping confidential.

R Auto is an independent car marque parallel with Roewe and MG under SAIC Motor PV. It was derived from the electric vehicle lineup of Roewe brand, while has not gotten an official Chinese name yet.
Currently, R Auto has two production models for sales, namely, the ER6 compact sedan and the MARVEL R mid-sized SUV.
SAIC Motor PV said the car deliveries of R Auto in September surged 91% compared to the previous month, while didn't reveal the concrete sales volume.
At the Chengdu Motor Show 2021, the mass-produced version of the ES33, R Auto's third model, was officially launched. The all-electric full-sized SUV is SAIC's first model to use the full-stack in-house developed intelligent driving solution “PP-CEM”.
SAIC Motor announced in late June that its new-generation power battery system would be put into volume production at the end of 2021 and would be first applied in the newest premium model under R Auto.
