Wuling MINIEV’s cumulative deliveries top 400,000 units as of Sept. 2021

Shanghai (Gasgoo)- SAIC-GM-Wuling (SGMW), a joint venture between General Motors and two Chinese automakers, announced on Thursday its new vehicle deliveries jumped 23.3% year on year to 1,270,148 units for the first nine months of 2021, 390,057 units of which were sold in the third quarter.

The deliveries of the GSEV (global small electric vehicle) platform-based models reached 109,978 units in the third quarter, resulting in 571,011 units in their cumulative volume.

As of September 2021, the total deliveries of the Wuling MINIEV surpassed 400,000 units since it went on sale in July 2020. The entry-level all-electric model recorded a delivery volume of 35,169 units in September, honored the best-selling new energy vehicle (NEV) model in China for the 13th month in a row.

In addition, SGMW said it received over 12,000 orders of the Baojun KiWi EV 40 days after the GSEV-based car model hit the market on August 31.

On Sept. 16, the Asta (dubbed “Xingchen” in Chinese”) hit the market as Wuling brand's first strategic SUV bearing the global silver badge. It took the automaker only 26 days to deliver 10,000 Asta SUVs.

SGMW launched its in-house developed smart mini-sized battery swapping station on Sept. 15 at the 2021 World New Energy Vehicle Congress (WNEVC). The innovative facility was put into use for the self-driving logistics vehicles at SGMW Baojun manufacturing base in October last year, and has already completed over 2,000 battery swaps.
